Dr. Bhante Saranapala is renowned as the “The Urban Buddhist Monk,” an appropriate moniker for a Buddhist monk for modern times. The recipient of the Canada 150 Sesquicentennial Community Award and founder of “Canada: A Mindful and Kind Nation,” the Government of Canada presented Dr. Saranapala with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms in 2017.

He is acclaimed as a consummate teacher of meditation by a growing number of people seeking a spiritual, peaceful and healthy life in North America and Europe who admire his simple and all-embracing approach in transmitting the universal message of love, understanding, compassion and wisdom.
